The film was shot across a 7-day period in a cell built in participation with former inmates to represent the reality down to the cracks in the walls. Combining live action and an animation technique called pixellation, the documentary received multiple accolades including a grant from The Marshall Project, and recognition by the Sundance Institute, the Tribeca Film Festival, SXSW & Camerimage. Watch the film, which premiered digitally on the New Yorker website.
